Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief

☆☆

+
Demi-God Percy, son of Poseidon, has been accused of stealing Zeus’ lightning bolt. He and his friends band together to catch the true lightning thief in this action-adventure-comedy...that the young ones may enjoy.
-
"Percy..." gives us some "X-Men" powers and a little "Harry Potter" magic along with uneven acting, and a story that doesn't work as a comedy, action, or adventure.

Rated PG
1 hr. 59 min.

I found the movie to be quite entertaining as just a movie. However, if you've read the book series, you may be disappointed. It often did not follow the storyline, the character descriptions were very inaccurate on several of the characters and a different character was the "thief" than was in the book!

I think they wanted to make the characters more "hip" in the movie to attract a little older audience. They were more interesting visually and seemed much older than the book characters.

I wish they would have included the important characters from the book that were a BIG part of the story. Namely, Aries and his daughter, Clarisse! Aries was the Lightning Thief!

So as a movie, great! As a movie that is about a very popular book series, this fails miserably!
