Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close

☆☆☆☆

+
Discovered on Jeopardy: Kids’ Week and new to the world of acting, Thomas Horn gives an outstanding performance (that requires him to be in almost every scene, narrate the film, and deliver a wide range of emotions) as Oskar an 11-year-old boy whose father dies in the World Trade Center on 9/11.
Obsessed and grief stricken, Oskar sets-out on a quest to find the lock that fits a key he found in an envelope (with the last name Black written on it) in his father’s closet.

_
The idea of an 11-year-old kid going to visit every person in New York City with the last name of Black is outrageous…not to mention his Mother allowing him to do it (the film does explain this…but it still hard to buy).

Rated PG-13
2 hr. 9 min.
