"Whiplash" is the intense story of Andrew Neyman (excellent performance by Miles Teller), a young drummer fighting to be the best at his east coast music school. Neyman's instructor, Terence Fletcher (award winning...and Oscar nominated performance by J.K. Simmons), is musically gifted...but incredibly abusive to the members of his classroom band.

Simmons' performance is outstanding, but the character is so abusive to the college students in his band that it is not only hard to watch...but hard to believe that he could hold the position for more than a few days.
